Democrats play Chicken with Terrorism

Are Democrats Just Stupid? In a word…yes.  Well many are, but some are in a massive state of denial.

But Democrat politicians are even worse. They are intentionally playing a national scale game of chicken with terrorism.

Elected Democrats KNOW as well as any conservative that the US and our way of life is at risk in a coming confrontation with Islamic terrorists. But these Democrats are willing to risk our safety for the time being, pushing our military toward defeat….IF it will help them get elected. They believe that once Democrats are in the White House and in control of the Senate and the House THEN they will be able to gather forces and defeat the Islamists.

They believe that they can embarrass the administration and Congressional Republicans enough by edging toward defeat to ensure their own acquisition of power. Of course to take this approach emboldens and strengthens our enemies. It costs us the lives of our brave volunteer soldiers because the enemy tastes victory. And it puts our nation at much higher risk.

In tasting blood in the water, the Muslim terrorists continue to ease more infiltrators into the US. Who knows when the hammer will fall and a grade school will be over run by Islamist gunmen, or a mall is strafed with terrorist gunfire, or a bridge or dam is destroyed? Or even worse, a nuclear, biological or chemical weapon is deployed on OUR soil?

Democrats know this as well as you or I, but Democrats are willing to risk your lives, your way of life….your children to ensure their own election to future office.

The Democrat party has become a shameful thing and vile. And if truth be told, through inaction, the Republicans are not much better.

Call To Arms for Texans!

I have just learned that Kay Bailey Hutchinson is wavering in her opposition to the Comprehensive Immigration bill. I am told that she is now claiming that what that bill does is not amnesty.

Well, I happen to disagree.

Go to my post below to learn how to contact your Senators. Do it NOW as I have, before it is too late.

Contact YOUR Senators TODAY about Immigration

Against the wishes of his base and all REAL Americans, President Bush has strongarmed your US Senator about this so-called "Comprehensive Immigration" Bill.  You have heard the arguements.  It is way worse than doing nothing.  I don't know what these guys are thinking, really.  But here is what YOU can do.

 1. Contact your Senators and Congressman. Tell them in no uncertain terms that this is a “make or break” issue for you. Tell them to Vote NO on this bogus “comprehensive” imigration bill about to be in front of the Senate again.

This site has email for all Senators and Congresmen:

http://www.webslingerz.com/jhoffman/congress-email.html

This website makes it easy to email your Senators and Representatives AND all their staffers!

http://www.outsourcecongress.org/outsource/congress/schstaffers.html

2. How to contact your Senators: http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm

3. Look up your + $ Zip Code: http://zip4.usps.com/zip4/welcome.jsp

4. How to contact your US Representative: http://www.house.gov/writerep/

5. After you verify who your US Representative is, you can find their phone numbers here: http://209.85.165.104/search?q=cache:iNuj_a3zK8UJ:www.house.gov/MemberWWW.html+how+to+contact+your+US+Representative&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=2&gl=us

This is the note I wrote to MY US Representative. I urge each of you to write AND call your Senators AND your US Representative about this issue. As I note in my letter, I am sending this to everyone on my email address list. I urge you to do this also.

WHAT I INTEND TO DO ABOUT BORDER SECURITY:

I am opposed to the comprehensive immigration bill about to be in front of the Senate again. What follows is my philosophy and I am sending this by email to everyone on my email address book:

I want a fence built first. After this, a guest worker program may be appropriate. I do not want citizen status for these illegal aliens….ever.

This is a "make or break" issue for me. If MY elected representatives vote for this, I need to replace them as they no longer represent me. Please don't take it as a threat, as it is not. It is simply that I will no longer support ANY candidate who supports this bill.  I will not be properly represented so I will have to vote for someone different.

As I see it, if MY Senators or US Representative votes for a bill substantively similar to what is being proposed I will do the following:

1. Support an opponent in the next primary, by vote and donations.
2. If the current representative wins the primary, I will vote for a 3rd party, or simply not vote.

This is a chance for my elected representatives to stand up and be counted. If they turn their back on the American people on this vote, it will be the last time I support them.

This is Texas

I didn't write this, but I sure wish I had:

TEXAS

When you're from Texas, people that you meet ask you questions like, Do you have any cows?" "Do you have horses?" "Bet you got a bunch of guns, eh?"

They all want to know if you've been to Southfork. They watched Dallas.

Have you ever looked at a map of the world? Look at Texas with me just for a second. That picture, with the Panhandle and the Gulf Coast, and the Red River and the Rio Grande is as much a part of you as anything ever will be.. As soon as anyone anywhere in the world looks at it they know what it is. It's Texas. Pick any kid off the street in Japan and draw him a picture of Texas in the dirt and he'll know what it is. What happens if I show you a picture of any other state? You might get it maybe after a second or two, but who else would? And even if you do, does it ever stir any feelings in you?

In every man, woman and child on this planet, there is a person who wishes just once he could be a real live Texan and get up on a horse or ride off in a pickup. There is some little bit of Texas in everyone.

Did you ever hear anyone in a bar go, "Wow...so you're from Iowa? Cool, tell me about it?" Do you know why? Because there's no place like Texas.

Texas is the Alamo. Texas is 183 men standing in a church, facing thousands of Mexican nationals, fighting for freedom, who had the chance to walk out and save themselves, but stayed instead to fight and die for the cause of freedom. We send our kids to schools named William B. Travis and James Bowie and Crockett and do you know why? Because those men saw a line in the sand and they decided to cross it and be heroes. John Wayne paid to do the movie himself. That is the Spirit of Texas.

Texas is Sam Houston capturing Santa Ana at San Jacinto.

Texas is "Juneteenth" and Texas Independence Day.
Texas is huge forests of Piney Woods like the Davy Crockett National Forest.

Texas is breathtaking mountains in the Big Bend.

Texas is the unparalleled beauty of bluebonnet fields in the Texas Hill Country.

Texas is the beautiful, warm beaches of the Gulf Coast of South Texas.

Texas is the shiny skyscrapers in Houston and Dallas.

Texas is world record bass from places like Lake Fork.

Texas is Mexican food like nowhere else, not even Mexico.

Texas is the Fort Worth Stockyards, Bass Hall, the Ballpark in Arlington and the Astrodome.

Texas is larger-than-life legends like Michael DeBakey, Denton Cooley, Willie Nelson, Buddy Holly, Waylon Jennings, Janis Joplin, Kris Kristofferson, Tom Landry, Darrell Royal, ZZ Top, John David Crow, Eric Dickerson, Earl Campbell, Nolan Ryan, Roger Clemens, Sam Rayburn, two Presidents George Bush, Lyndon B.Johnson.

Texas is great companies like Dell Computer, Texas Instruments and Compaq. And LOCKHEED MARTIN AEROSPACE, Home of the F-16 Jet Fighter and the JSF Fighter.

Texas is NASA.

Texas is huge herds of cattle and miles of crops.

Texas is skies blackened with doves, and fields full of deer.

Texas is a place where towns and cities shut down to watch the local High School Football game on Friday nights and for the Cowboys on Monday Night
Football, and for the Night In Old San Antonio River Parade in San Antonio. Texas is ocean beaches, deserts, lakes and rivers, mountains and prairies, and modern cities.

If it isn't Texas, you probably don't need it.

No one does anything bigger or better than it's done in Texas.

By federal law, Texas is the only state in the U.S. that can fly its flag at the same height as the U.S. flag. Think about that for a second. You fly the Stars and Stripes at 20 feet in Maryland, California, or Maine and your state flag, whatever it is, goes at 17 feet. You fly the Stars and Stripes in front of Pine Tree High in Longview or anyplace else at 20 feet, the Lone Star flies at the same height - 20 feet. Do you know why? Because it is the only state that was a republic before it became a state, and was not annexed, but was asked, not told, to become one of the United States.

Also, being a Texan is as high as being an American down here. Our capitol is the only domed one in the country that is taller than the domeed capitol building in Washington, D.C. and we can divide our state into five states at any time if we want to do so! We included these things as part of the deal when we came on. That's the best part, right there.

If you are a REAL TEXAN you won't even need to be told to pass this on!

That harry reid. What a Guy!

As I was about to write this post, I was stumped as to what topic to choose.  harry reid is such an impotent character on so many fronts that it was a crapshoot to pick any topic over another.

Let me throw this out to you, readers.  Is there ANY topic where harry reid "stands tall"?  Other than whining about the performance of the Bush Administration and undermining our military while at war, I can't think of anything at which he is outstanding.

This most recent event, wherein harry reid calls our commanding Generals "incompetent" is so ludicrous coming from a whisp of a character like reid that it would be laughable if it were not so damaging to the fiber of the military.  After all, when a manly figure like reid belts out criticism in that trademark baritone of his, it has to be effective.  Not.

And earlier this week, President Bush schedules a meet with Senate Republicans about the "Comprehensive Immigration" bill to try to hand harry reid a victory over the people.  So what does harry reid do to show his bipartisanship?  He schedules a moment of silence for the casualties in Iraq coincident with President Bush's trip in order to try to embarass him.  harry reid is simply shamelsss, which is no mean feat when he has so much of which to be ashamed.  Here are a couple of links to articles by David Broder detailing dingy harre reid's many shortcomings:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/04/25/AR2007042502407.html

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/06/13/AR2007061301967.html

harry reid and nancy pelosi HAVE been able to deflate the public perception of the Congress to a real wagon-rut-like low of 23% approval at the same time that President Bush digs as hard as HE can by backing the above referenced immigration bill.  Although I am not a rocket scientist, I AM an engineer and it is obvious to ME at least that these 3 don't know the least thing about what the public wants nor about the current political tenor.

And here is perhaps the message that should be strained from much of what is going on these days.  the Republicans were not thrown out in the last election because of Iraq, nor because they were too partisan.  the republicans were thrown out because they were indistinguishable from the Democrats.  HELLO!!!  Listen to ME here.  If the Republicans do not effectively and vocally draw significant distinctions between then and the Democrats, MORE Republicans will be thrown out.

Why do Republicanse continue to forget this?  You are elected in droves when you stand up and show you have a pair...as opposed to metro-sexuals like reid, john edwards, etc.

You know what I would like to see?  The next time some panty-twist of a reporter tries to embarass a Republican about his faith or abortion...is pick a fight with him!  That kind of "have you stopped beating your wife" question is a waste of time and all conservatives know it.  Stop them in their tracks.  If that is the most important question that reporter has to ask, suggest that he give up his time to some other reporter that has issues to discuss.

Well that is probably too much to ask.  Until Fred Dalton Thompson gets in the race.

Nope, I really don't see a pattern here to justify profiling, do you?

So, to ensure we Americans never offend anyone, particularly fanatics intent on killing us, airport security screeners should definitely not be allowed to profile certain people. They must conduct random searches of 80-year-old women, little kids, airline pilots with proper identification, secret agents of the President's security detail, 85-year old Congressmen with metal hips, and Medal of Honor winning and former Governor Joe Foss, but leave Muslim Males between the ages 17 and 40 alone because of profiling.

Let's send this to as many people as we can so that the ACLU and other dunder-headed attorneys along with Federal Justices that want to thwart common sense, feel doubly ashamed of themselves - if they have any such sense.

As the writer of the award winning story "Forrest Gump" so aptly put it, "Stupid is as stupid does."

Mitt Romney vs. Fred Thompson

I believe this is the conservative decision that will need to be made. That is not to say that Rudy is not a good man.

In fact let’s get this out on the table: I will vote for ANY Republican over ANY Democrat, even John McCain. Even Ron Paul. By the way, Ron Paul is my US Representative. I KNOW Ron Paul. As a country, we simply cannot afford a Democrat president, especially if there is the very real chance of having a Democrat Congress.

OK, the decks are clear.

I believe both Romney and Thompson are good men, both conservative. Neither is pure as they have both taken positions in the past that are openly not conservative. But either due to a conversion, or being more mature or maybe feeling the conservative wind blowing, they both have pretty consistent, clear conservative positions. So I don’t think this should be an ideological decision.

This is an electability question. Again, the country cannot afford a Democrat (read Hillary) President.

So, how do we decide?

I listen to Mitt Romney and he comes across as smart, quick knowledgeable. He was accomplished and successful as governor or Massachusetts. And my friend, for a Republican to be a successful governor in that socialist stronghold is saying something. Additionally he has a successful business career. He is a wonderful candidate.

Fred Dalton Thompson has been an assistant US Attorney and a US Senator among other things. Of course, he has also been an actor. From Wikipedia: A 1994 New York Times profile described his character roles in the following terms:

"The glowering, hulking Mr. Thompson has played a White House chief of staff, a director of the Central Intelligence Agency, a highly placed F.B.I. agent, a rear admiral, even a senator. When Hollywood directors need someone who can personify governmental power, they often turn to him."

I first remember Fred Thompson as Rear Admiral Joshua Painter - USS Enterprise in the movie “Hunt for Red October”. I DO remember even then, thinking this man SOUNDS Presidential.

And THAT is my point in this whole post. Mitt Romney will likely make a good president, IF he gets there. So will Fred Thompson. But Fred Thompson will come across as Presidential across a stage from Hillary. Mitt Romney will come across as a candidate for President. When Romney answers a question, it comes across as the right answer that you would expect from a candidate. When Thompson answers it sounds like he is telling you what he believes.

That is the key point. Fred Thompson will be a believable, conservative Presidential candidate. Hillary Clinton comes across as….Hillary, a lying, liberal, self serving, high pitched harpy.

Who do you think Hillary would prefer to run against?

John McCain...You're No Jack Kennedy

John Kennedy was, in retrospect, an old time Democrat, in many respects.  Tough on Defense, fairly liberal on social issues.

Now...who does that remind me of that is running for President as a Republican?  John McCain!

Give Senator McCain his due.  He is a war hero, and he has been at least vocally for the war, even while he undermined President Bush's attempts to have a unified front against Terror.

But McCain has so MANY liberal issues hanging around his neck.

1.  The Gang of 14 that undermined the Republicans trying to grow a backbone and stand up to the Democrats on the selection of Judges.  Instead they all wimped out, the Democrats got their way and noone went to the polls to vote for the spinelss Republicans.  Thanks a heap, McCain.

2.  McCain-Feingold that severly limits fundraising by normal channels and amazingly stifles free speech in the days leading up to an election.  For the life of me I can't understand this issue.

3.  This latest debacle, the "Comprehensive Immigration" bill.  No need to rhash it here, but this is another stinking albatross around his neck.

4.  But, where John Kennedy's administration had one of the biggest tax cuts of all time, John McCain voted AGAINST the Bush Tax cuts and stands by that vote today.

So, because of all the liberal voting you have done John McCain, you are not even as conservative as John Kennedy.  But, on the other hand, you are a self-serving ego-maniac.

Good luck in that President's race John, and don't let the door hit you on the way out.

I know Ron Paul

Ron Paul has been my US Representative off and on for I guess nearly 30 years.  I am not even sure how that happened, because I moved from the Houston area to the Austin area and now my official residence is Galveston.  And somehow I guess either he moved districts or the districts were gerrymandered so that He is once again my US Representative.  Well that was all good.  The Democrat party had been gerrmandering districts since Reconstruction.  It was about time the Republicans got their turn.

Along the way he ran for President another time as a Libertarian.

That was ok, too, because I was a Libertarian from way back in high school....maybe 68 or 69.  I have always voted a libertarian conservative ballot, which meant generally holding my nose and voting Republican.  But I remember writhing in Ronald Reagan instead of voting for Nixon.  He just wasn't conservative enough for me.  Turned out I was right.  This China thing is gonna bury us all.  But I digress.

Ron Paul is known as "The Taxpayers Friend" and he is that.  Ron Paul is seldom going to vote to raise your taxes.  I suspect he has, but it is few and far between.  And he will vote against spending. too.  I remember he voted against some missle system years ago and I wondered what the heck he was doing.  Then I realized....he voted against spending the money.  I can nearly always figure his angle on a vote.

But he is wrong now.  He has this whole War on Terror thing wrong.  He MIGHT be right from a purely theoretical political point of view.  Like Thomas Jefferson, he wants to avoid foreign entanglements.  Who doesn't??

But guess what?  Thomas Jefferson had to change his mind and browbeat Congress into funding a bigger Navy and Marine force than he had claimed as his platform.  Why, you should ask at this point?  Because of the Barbary Pirates.  Do you know who the Barbary Pirates were?  Arabs who preyed on shipping in the area of the Mediterranean.  And TJ had to send a marine force to kick their butts.

Certainly you have heard the quote:  "Millions for Defense, Not One Cent for Tribute".  THIS is where that quote came from.  We had to butch up and go take care of business, even though we would have all preferred not to do that.

Well, here we are again, and let me say it first:

"Trillions for Defense, Not ONE Cent for Tribute"!

Ron Paul, I love you like a brother, man.  But THIS time, spend my money.

Michael Medved Is Just Wrong

Let me start off by saying I REALLY like the radio shows associated with Townhall.com. I believe that Bill Bennett, Michael Medved, and Hugh Hewitt are perhaps the most informative and entertaining hosts on the radio. I also like Dennis Prager, but seldom get to listen as Rush is on at the same time. I also like Mike Gallagher but Laura Ingraham is on at the same time.

Usually I agree with Michael Medved. But he is wrong about this “Comprehensive Immigration” bill.

Medved, usually a pretty strict “values” type conservative has chosen to accept this sellout-disguised-as-compromise bill as the best that will EVER be available, and thus we must jump at this chance to stop the sky from falling.

WRONG. Oh. Let me count a few of the ways.

1. This position implies that there is no possibility for the Conservatives (note I did NOT say Republicans) to take back the Presidency and / or the Congress. I disagree. In fact, THIS is in MY mind the only issue that has a chance of galvanizing Republicans AND Reagan Democrats to vote in a new crop of conservative candidates. As important, if the Republicans do not embrace this issue and make it a point of distinction, this will ensure Republican defeat in the next round of elections and for the foreseeable future. Not only will it dilute Republican voter interest, but it will undermine any reason for switchover Democrats to vote Republican AND will enrich the liberal aka Democrat voter base by millions of soon-to-be-legalized-benefit recipients. As is, this bill should be called the “Comprehensive Republican Party Dissolution Act”.

2. The current bill won’t increase Border Security. They say it will, but Dear God, why should we believe them? The last 2 significant immigration bills have done the exact opposite. We have lived with this increasing problem through Reagan, 2 Bush’s and a Clinton. None of these administrations felt the necessity to close the borders…UNTIL it was teamed up with AMNESTY. So why SHOULD we believe this bunch of serial liars? If you want to convince us you are going to seal the borders…DO IT. Don’t promise it as part of some omnibus bill that does primarily a bunch of things we DON’T want. Seal the borders THEN come back to the people to do other things.

3. This immediate Z-visa is just insane and unworkable. Do I need to elaborate on this?

4. Amnesty…or a route to citizenship. Ok, I will admit it. I was slightly moved from my position today while listening to Michael’s radio show. Two illegal aliens called in. You know…the guys doing work that American’s won’t do. One owned a machine shop and the other is a realtor. Both own houses. Now how in the hell does THIS happen?? Nonetheless, I have to admit that there are some illegals that ought to be allowed to stay. But that means that we need an AGGRESSIVE policy of vetting these illegals, with a STATED goal of trying to reject them. It should be the exception for an illegal to be approved for possible amnesty. Like 1 in 20 or 1 in 50. There should be MULTIPLE levels of review, each with the objective of rejecting the applicant. And these should be contractors funded by fees from the non-refundable applications from the illegals.

There is just too much wrong with this bill for me to even wrap my head around it. I recommend listening to Hugh Hewitt. He has his head on straight.

Ain't Having Democrats in Charge of Congress Great?

“War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things; the decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks nothing worth a war, is worse. A man who has nothing which he cares more about than he does about his personal safety is a miserable creature who has no chance at being free, unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.” —John Stuart Mill
